Helping Kids Choose Career Paths

Source My 6yr old little man, D1 now wants to be a Doctor, a Chef and a Teacher. Together. D2 is now 4yrs and still wants to be a Doctor . You ever seen anyone with combined honors a la career before? Maybe it's going to start with my boy, D1. Don't. Dare. Laugh. Yet. Remember this post where he wanted to be a Doctor, an Engineer and a Pastor? Now the tides have apparently turned and the Pastor option has been eliminated in less than a year and the Chef option introduced into the equation.

Kindred Spirits

Source   Your s mi le cracks through li ke the morning dew Yet through it all your heart cries shine forth Try as you may to mask the painful thoughts Yet they bubble through like brew We know God's care is sacrosanct, but life is hardly fair Often wearying her loyal inhabitants As she relishes dishing out mixed croissants But hunger for more, we dare Friends are sent from above to hold our hearts and hands Sweet companions on the journey fraught with joys and pains Trying to assuage regardless of gains But we need to navigate the bumps minding the bands Tears and groaning will soon be gone For we see the glimmers peeking from behind the cloud Struggling to break free to embrace, and you to warmly daub But with the struggles, one more time, we need be done The heart yearns to make it better Yet worse it might become As we struggle to find answers alone on the dome Which has sinc...

So Different...Yet the Same

I hate to think my boys are the only kids that ask cringe-worthy questions, and in public places too. You know questions that make you feel like O.M.G...not so loud...and not here!

Diverse Faces of Love...(I)

I see it sitting pretty Sandwiched between the longings of lonely hearts How high could beauty get Bestowing the pleasure of its grace on expectant races I touch it ever so dainty Warming up to the allure of its beautiful parts How often did they fret Flowing from the dark recesses of tired paces They hold it so lofty Grateful for the wondrous pleasure of its gaiety How beautiful could love get Illuminating unknown lives from the diverse outlets of her many faces. ___________________________________________________________________________________

DIY: LOVEly Fabric Accessory

These pretty LOVEly accessories are really easy to make. See the shape? You know how elections have been scheduled to hold on February 14 in Nigeria and how it's going to be an actively bleak day for those who have dedicated that day to 'celebration of love'...I mean 'those' that always go (all) out to celebrate Valentine or love every 14th of February.

Here's to a Happier February..

Source Hi friends, Was it not yesterday that we shouted 'happy new year'?

No I'm not Pregnant, it's Just a Muffin Top!

Source   D1: ''Mummy, your tummy is super-big. There is a baby inside...'' Arghhh...not again!

Kids & Politics....Vote Daddy for Governor

So the kids and I were on our way back home from dropping off some ordered items on Saturday morning when we stopped at a traffic light. Y'all know elections are round the corner here in Nigeria, so expectedly there are different pictures of different suave looking gentlemen flung in our faces regardless of our political orientation.

The End Came for My Pastor...on January 1!

Source January started on a high note in our home...until we got the sad news that our Pastor had been 'called home' after a 9-month battle with colon cancer. Terrible terrible news on a new year day. Cancer...again.

The Beginning

Source   In my last post for 2014, I briefly touched on my 'brief' goal for 2015 and asked whether people still do resolutions. Have you formed yours? Of course you have. And if you haven't, it's not a matter of life and death, right? Well, 2015 has just begun though today is the 3rd day...this is the very beginning and I must say starting with the Beginning Himself is the icing on the cake, for me ni o. There are three fresh calendars in the house, one hanging in the living room, one in the bedroom and the third in the kitchen. The mental whiteboard has been wiped clean with “January 2015” screaming from every angle.

Goodbye 2014...of Mixed Blessings

Image source   In a couple of hours -some 25+ hours actually, the curtain would drop on 2014 as we usher in the new year. I mean in a little more than a day, 2014 will be forever submerged in the sands of time. Forever sealed up in the history books as we eagerly unwrap our newest gift with childlike glee. And 2015 will be opened up before us- beautiful, fresh, clean and new. Untouched. Ochara. Tear-rubber . *insert smiley*

Bye, November...of 'Mummy, I don't love you'

Certificates 1 and 2.. Hello Sweethearts,  Apology for the long absence, November has been incredibly busy on this side of the computer.  In a few hours, we'd be in December...ain't we all blessed and lucky to still be here? #thankful

Would You Be Their Voice?

Friends, Sometimes, life could be very busy that we have no space for anything else, -like calling up a distant friend to find out how they are doing -like remembering a dear friend's birthday or wedding anniversary -like remembering to make arrangements for the next morning's breakfast -like remembering to turn on the Washer -like remembering to take the children out as earlier promised -like remembering to get the slides ready for the next day's Presentation -like remembering to laugh heartily -like remembering to study or pray -like getting a manicure -like getting the hair done / cut -like going for a date night with hubby / wifey -like being romantic -like getting some more fruits or vegies -like sparing 2 minutes of our time to help save the 'world'.. But remembering that some are not having it half as good and tables could turn (like it did when Ebola sneaked into Nigeria) is bound to put everything into perspective. It's November an...

We Can #EndEbola Together

Sign the petition   Truly, we can end ebola together. It is no longer news that #ebola is wreaking a devastating havoc on some West African countries with Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone being the worst hit. ''Ebola is tearing through West Africa, killing up to 70% of those infected and spreading fear through their communities'' Would not forget in a hurry what I went through some months back when Nigeria had a taste of what these helpless countries are currently facing. The fear and the uncertainties are not something I wish on anyone.

Liebster Award aka JAMB Qs/As

I was pleasantly surprised to be tagged by Thecla for this award in September *face palm*. Even though it's been close to two months but I owe it to Thecla to do this, already gave my world I'd respond. You don't know Thecla? She's a beautiful woman of faith who blogs over at  This Favored Woman . Her posts are always so enriching and refreshing, so why don't you go over to her site and say hello to her from me? This award is actually a first for me and I should probably give a speech or something...y'all know how it's done, right? You hold the mic and chants OMG for a while and then launch into some long or short speech as the 'spirit' leads...then you dedicate your award to some lovely people in your life...

November...be Happy

Source   Beautiful people, It's a brand new day, a brand new month and a brand new beginning. Ain't we lucky to have come this far considering the happenings around us, the world over? It's indeed a privilege to 'see' this brand new month. Doesn't matter where we're coming from or where we are right now, we have the gift of a fresh beginning every time we open our eyes to enjoy the fresh breathe of a new day. This new month, may you experience unanticipated satisfaction, joy and fulfillment all round and may all your heart's desires be granted. So I say...November will be awesome for you and I.. ..be happy. Lots of love.

Touch Your Breasts...Now!

Source Yes, go on. Touch your breasts right now. Stand in front of the mirror and do some visual examinations, check for any obvious / imagined changes in the layout of your breast...any unusual wrinkling or crinkling...any changes in the nipples...then raise your arm and feel your breast with the small of your palm in a circular motion...first one...then the other.

Being Special

I see it in his face Gazing out the window at strangers Giving out unsolicited smiles Hoping to get one in return Forced or natural, it hardly matters. When I was much younger And then this morning too, In the midst of praying for world peace and an end to neo natal deaths I yearn it too. It didnt matter that he feels it And hears it daily From an adoring ma and pa, In the loving touches and hugs Words softly spoken with gaiety. He needs it still more From someone who didn't have to know him Let someone who doesn't love him Wave back and smile hesitantly At the little boy gawking expectantly. Then like a million tiny bulbs I see his face lights up In him, I see me As he revel in those moments Of being special.

Future's Past...Past's Future

So my 5yr old is torn between being an engineer and a medical doctor+pastor....the 'Doctoring' + 'pastoring' must go together (in his mind)... Why? Engineers fix things, doctors fix people, save people and 'heal the world' while pastors are always smartly dressed in their suits. He associates pastors with 3pc suits, he loves suits and has also come to associate wearing them with very serious occasions.
